Getting Started

Purpose

Prepare floor plans to be included in DORIS research deliverables.

Responsible Party

This activity could be assigned to any team member who has capacity.

Interdependencies

This activity takes place in three phases:

  1. Initial tracing can take place as soon as floor plans are received from the client

  2. Data points can be added as soon as they are confirmed in Vantage Space (usually the day a usability study begins).

  3. Occupancy and behavioral data can be included once usability data analysis is completed.

Directions
  1. Open the floorplan template, 24 Usability Floorplans.indt, from Box. This will open a new file called “Untitled-1.indd.”

  2. Save the file to the project folder in Box/2 - Projects/Project/4 - Challenge Defining/Deliverable

The template includes a letter-sized (8.5”x11”) page and a tabloid-sized (17”x11”) page. Pages 1 + 2 are examples of completed floorplans and will be deleted at the end of the activity.

  1. Setup your Indesign workspace to include these panels:

  • CC Libraries - DORIS Usability
  • Pages
  • Layers - To turn layers on and off, click on the eye icon in the Layers panel.
  • Links
  • Object Styles
  • Paragraph Styles
