Prepare Usability data
Purpose
Prepares data collected from usability study for analysis

VP Ops, Research Associate, or Data Scientist/Analyst
Interdependencies
The usability study has concluded and all data is synced/uploaded.
Directions
Step 1 - Download Data from Vantage Space + Save to Box
- Download the raw data from Vantage Space. (View instructions on Scribe.)
- Navigate to https://www.vantagespace.com/
- Click "My Account" and log in with doris@dorisresearch.com
- Select the project in the Organization drop-down.
- If the study is in progress, select "Live Studies". If data collection is complete,
select "Completed Studies." - Click "View Progress" from the hamburger menu
- Click "WORKSPACES"
- Click "EXPORTS"
- Click "Create New Export"
- Enter Title "[Date] - [Client Project] - Usability Raw VS Data"
- Report Settings
- Format XLSX
- Include Notes? = YES
- Include Missed Data = YES
- Workspace Filters
- All
- Date and Time Filters
- All
- Data Options
- Check - Treat all "Signs of Life" data as "Occupied"
- Check - Group all non-occupied statuses as "Unoccupied"
- Press Create Study Export
- It will take a few minutes for Vantage Space to create the report.
- Once it is available, press Download.
- Save the file to the project file in Box
- Folder = "3 - Data Collection"
- Subfolder = Usability Raw Data
- Subfolder = Usability Raw Data
- Folder = "3 - Data Collection"
Step 2 - Clean Data in Excel in Preparation for Analysis
- Open Raw Dataset from Box in Excel (View instructions on Scribe.)
- Box / 2 - Projects/ [CLIENT PROJECT] /3 - Data Collection / Usability Raw Data
- Create People variable
- Add column to the right
- Name the column "People"
- The values of this column = "Number of People" without the 0's
- Create Occupied variable
- Add column to right
- Name the column "Occupied"

This variable is populated with 1's and 0's.
- It is 0 if Status = "Missed", "Unoccupied", "Vacant", "Unobservable"
- It is 1 if Status = "Occupied" or "Signs of Life"

Delete any rows that were recorded on the training day.
- Identify on the project calendar, the date of usability training.
- Filter the dataset for the Timestamp that starts with that date [YYYY-MM-DD ...]
- To Delete
- Highlight all the training day rows
- Right-click
- Press Delete
- Create Weekday variable
- Add column to right
- Name the column "Weekday"
- Filter by each timestamp date (one-by-one)
- Enter the day of the week "Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday", "Thursday", "Friday"
- Copy and paste down the column for that date
- Do this for each of the 10 dates for the usability study
- ** Each point should have a day and time associated with it.
- Filter by each timestamp date (one-by-one)
- Save the dataset with the filename "[Client] Usability Data Raw FINAL"
