Finish - Synthesis to Solution Defining Outline

Synthesize data

Conduct individual synthesis
  1. Synthesis must be external. Use Mural, a whiteboard, paper, etc.
  2. Address these questions:
    • Is there an overarching theme to people's solutions?
    • What seems like the most prominent challenge the solutions address?
    • What are some other top challenges people designed solutions for?
    • How do the solutions relate to one another?
    • Did we receive any solution criteria data during challenge seeking?
  3. Identify fewer than 10 solution categories that stand out and show how they are related

Conduct Group Synthesis Meeting
  • The Ops Manager schedules this meeting in the research strategy meeting.
  • The purpose of this meeting is to discuss, in detail, the initial insights that emerged from individual analysis and create the structure for the resulting document.
  • The research Lead Strategist conducts the meeting, asking questions and prompting discussion to prompt full externalization and critical consideration of top challenges in the stakeholders' experience and how the solutions relate.
Create Solution Defining Outline
  • Open Solution Defining Outline Template
  • Open notes from the synthesis meeting and any other document/resources that would inform the outline
  • The outline should organize the top 5-9 solutions that people designed with organized sub-themes nested under.
  • The outline should begin to follow a narrative.
  • Once the first draft of the outline is created, all members of the Ops Team should review it and add supporting data (quotes and/or quantitative insights) as appropriate.
